Welcome to Paisley Petunia…part two!

I find inspiration in pretty pictures, endless possibilities in a bowl of Meyer lemons, the meaning of lifetime devotion in the wagging tails of our 3 rescue dogs, end-of- the-day bliss in a glass of red wine and now, the boundless, soul clutching meaning of life in the faces of my 2 little angels.

It's a happy, creative, joy-full life we've got here in the LA sun. Come play! Bring wine.

Friday Mish Mash

ROCK OUT: Only 15 Days until Coachella!

poster_thumb

Check out the full lineup here. I would be stoked to see iconic, 60s folk singer Leonard Cohen who is currently on tour again and will be rocking the desert on Friday, April 17th. In the 60s and 70s, Cohen was a renowned ladies man (a title he firmly denies) and ran with the uber-cool dilettantes in New York City including Warhol and Janis Joplin, so no doubt he still has his mojo working. He has remained one of the most prolific songwriters of all time having had over 1000 of his songs recorded by musicians from all genres of music. In 1996, he gave it all up to spend 5 years in a Zen Buddhist Monastery outside Los Angeles.  Check out a couple of cool videos of his stuff here and here as well as an intense documentary about his fascinating life here.

DRINK UP: Looking to add a little South American sizzle to your day?

eisch-breathable-wine-glass-1Swing by Wally’s Wine in Westwood on Saturday, April 4 for their “Wines of Argentina” wine tasting from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Tastings are only $10.00 so you won’t blow your “Run Away with an Argentine Polo Player” stash…just yet.

CLIMB ON: The Final Four bandwagon.

final-four

Yeah, so maybe your own bracket busted but don’t feel bad, you can still find a team to root for and you’ve got a 25% chance of picking the winner this time. President Obama had Pitt, Louisville, Memphis and UNC; Doug Gottlieb (ESPN columnist who covers college hoops) had Wake Forest, Pitt, UNC and UCONN and yours’ truly had Louisville, Pitt, UNC and UCONN.  Not too shabby for a rookie.

PEEPLE WHO NEED PEEPLE: peeps_400x300

Not sure if the great Babs enjoys a little marshmallow goodness but it’s that time of year when the internet is all a flutter with Peep recipes and wacky Peep projects. Everyone’s favorite (well, not mine but a lot of other people’s favorite) day-glo, marshmallow snack turns 50+ this year and the milestone is sure to be celebrated by the devoted members of the Peep’s Fan Club (click here to join should that be your kind of thing.) Couple of interesting peep treats here and here.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T; Saturday, April 4th is World Rat Day.

wrd-toc-right1Yep, that is not a typo. Created to bring some r-e-s-p-e-c-t back to the “fancy, pet rat.” Join the festivities around the world as they “celebrate the fancy rat for the wonderful pet and companion they are” (their words not mine.) Join the Ratlist, a global email list for international rat lovers of all ages. You can’t keep a good rat down, I saw Ratouille, I know.

If Rat Day isn’t your thing, don’t worry because April 4 is also National Tangible Karma Day (though one would think if you’re celebrating Rat Day that would kind of cover you in the good karma department.) Anyway, “Tangible KarmaTM Day celebrates when giving feels as good as receiving. Nationwide, groups and individuals set aside 1 hour of this day to purposefully become aware of the needs of those they are in contact with and actively do something to help fulfill those needs.”  Check out the website for some ideas on how to make the most of this day. Rats and people alike will thank you for it.

HEAL THE HEART: Yours and Alfie’s.

alfie2

Abused, abandoned and alone, little Alfie is looking for his forever home.

Alfie’s story- Alfie had a hard life through his puppyhood. It takes compassion and patience to gain his trust, but once he knows you are there to protect him, he warms up to you so lovingly. He deserves someone special who will bring stability and security to his life. He’s great with his foster lady, so in time, he can shake the sad past and start his new life with his forever person! If you’re interested in bringing this little guy in your life email: saveapet@farescue.org

Have a great weekend my friends!

xoxo,

your girl c
