Welcome to Paisley Petunia…part two!

I find inspiration in pretty pictures, endless possibilities in a bowl of Meyer lemons, the meaning of lifetime devotion in the wagging tails of our 3 rescue dogs, end-of- the-day bliss in a glass of red wine and now, the boundless, soul clutching meaning of life in the faces of my 2 little angels.

It's a happy, creative, joy-full life we've got here in the LA sun. Come play! Bring wine.

Motown

Hello Lovely Readers:

I will be traveling to Detroit (oh yeah!) for the very first time next month for A’s law school friend’s wedding. We will have about 2 days to explore the area and would love some insider recommendations from my midwestern friends.

And, speaking of Detroit…is anyone else watching Hung on HBO? I caught up on the whole season the other day, and I think I like it.

I have been thinking about Detroit since I read this op-ed. You should seek out one of these communities: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/08/opinion/08barlow.html?_r=3

  2. A couple of things come to mind. Cranbrook in Bloomfield Hills was home to designers like both Saarinens, Harry Bertoia, Charles and Ray Eames, Florence Knoll, and Jack Lenor Larson, to name a few. They have a great campus, nice museum and fabulous gardens. They still rate in the Top 5 for Masters in Fine Arts schools.

Also, the Motown Museum is supposed to be pretty cool (we haven’t been there yet), and we love Greektown and the Eastern Market. f you need other ideas, drop me an email. :)

Thanks for the article, Alex! I love that they have the ability to essentially “re-create” their neighborhood – with parks and all their friends as neighbors. Very cool!

thanks pp! Very excited to check these out…And we will definitely go to the Motown Museum and Greektown (Reminds me of Middlesex, did you read that book?)
