Welcome to Paisley Petunia…part two!
I find inspiration in pretty pictures, endless possibilities in a bowl of Meyer lemons, the meaning of lifetime devotion in the wagging tails of our 3 rescue dogs, end-of- the-day bliss in a glass of red wine and now, the boundless, soul clutching meaning of life in the faces of my 2 little angels.
It's a happy, creative, joy-full life we've got here in the LA sun. Come play! Bring wine.

Fresh Faces in Fashion – LAFW
So you might have heard it was Fashion Week recently – in New York, London, Milan and Paris?
Well our own little sunny metropolis here in Southern California has a little Fashion Week too. Actually its more like a month of events, mostly in the evening, and its very different from the other Fashion Weeks. We do not have delusions of grandeur that we can compete with them. Some can be very critical of our fashion events here in LA, but I am choosing to ignore them and am instead looking forward to some fashion filled events over the next few weeks. LA is home to many a talented designer and trends do emerge from style forward Angelenos. However, we are not NYC, we know that. And we aren’t trying to be.
So without further ado, some of the shows and designers I am most looking forward to:
SkinGraft: “an emerging LA-based design house exploring the balance between raw underground fashion and sleek, high-end couture.”
Ever since I saw this harness piece, I have been fascinated. It is a lot more edgy than I normally do. Who am I kidding I am so far from edgy. But it just looks so cool, and to pair it with a feminine top? Love.
And the classic romantic looks of Kelly Bergin:
There isn’t much to be found online, but I can’t wait to see her looks for Spring 2010.
And from Erik Hart‘s Morphine Generation, the MG Black label, part of Gen Art’s Fresh Faces of Fashion (see below):

And the highlight is always the Gen Art Show – “Fresh Faces in Fashion” – which offers a great platform for young, emerging designers. C and I went in February and wrote about it here.
Fresh Faces in Fashion is Gen Art’s anchor fashion event which showcases 5 emerging womenswear and menswear designers on the runway. It was named by WWD as one of the 5 shows to watch during LAFW!
Participating Designers:
Womenswear:
Leyendecker
Rory Beca
Seneca Rising
Menswear:
MG Black
Accessories:
CC Skye (bags)
The Generic Man (men’s and women’s shoes)
Ludevine (fine jewelry)
Stampd L.A. (sneakers).

I am v excited and have been laying out outfits all week. LA doesn’t have anything to be ashamed of and all those bad mouthers should just mind their own business! xo
Love that Kelly Bergin skirt – I’m definitely going to look for some of her designs. Also, love the idea of the first designer but not 100% sure about the name!
