Welcome to Paisley Petunia…part two!

I find inspiration in pretty pictures, endless possibilities in a bowl of Meyer lemons, the meaning of lifetime devotion in the wagging tails of our 3 rescue dogs, end-of- the-day bliss in a glass of red wine and now, the boundless, soul clutching meaning of life in the faces of my 2 little angels.

It's a happy, creative, joy-full life we've got here in the LA sun. Come play! Bring wine.

Weekend ends abruptly; surprised by Monday.

For sale: baby shoes, never used.

—Ernest Hemingway

The original short short story and the inspiration for the Six Word Story project. In the 1920s, Ernest Hemingway’s colleagues bet him that he couldn’t write a complete story in just six words. They paid up. Hemingway is said to have considered it his best work.

It’s been all over NPR and the Internet but if you haven’t yet checked out Six Word Stories you definitely should. I first heard about it on Valentine’s Day at 11pm on NPR. I was driving home from work (yes, work at 11pm on Valentine’s Day) and they were doing Six Word Stories on Love and Heartbreak. I was exhausted and couldn’t wait to get home but once I started listening I was transfixed. I sat in my car in the parking lot for an hour.

Now, Six Word Stories is on http://twitter.com/sixwordstories and they have had over 5000 stories submitted (you can submit your own six word story here) They have categories from love to death and humor, plus some from famous writers and celebs.

Admittedly, I went to college with dreams of being a writer and so all these creative writing projects hold a lot of allure for me but even if you aren’t a word junkie you’d have to agree there is such beautiful simplicity and profound impact in the RIGHT six words.  It’s a nice diversion on a Monday that’s for sure. What would your Six Word Story say? Send us some and we’ll re-post with the best.

Some of my favorites are:

Last human survives. Tweets; no replies.

She blamed herself. Wallowed. Rejuvenated. Forgave.

I must admit I love these:

Found true love. Married someone else.

Married for money, divorced for love.

Great post! I love when NPR keeps you in your car longer with its interesting tales…I liked this one today:

Friday: Hired! Weekend debauchery! Monday: Fired.
