Welcome to Paisley Petunia…part two!

I find inspiration in pretty pictures, endless possibilities in a bowl of Meyer lemons, the meaning of lifetime devotion in the wagging tails of our 3 rescue dogs, end-of- the-day bliss in a glass of red wine and now, the boundless, soul clutching meaning of life in the faces of my 2 little angels.

It's a happy, creative, joy-full life we've got here in the LA sun. Come play! Bring wine.

Rainbow Bright

Last night we met with our new interior designer. She is going to help us with some parts of our house that I’m not so crazy about. Most people would call those parts “beige” but I call them “problem areas” because any space without color is a problem for me. I love deep, rich, saturated color and well, the guy who built our house…not so much. Lucky for me one quick trip through the gardens and flower beds of my neighborhood provides me with enough color to hold me over while the designer and her paint can work their magic.

It’s the delicious beauty of spring isn’t it? Longer, sunnier days; the rainbow splash of colors popping up all over Los Angeles right now and farmer’s market tables that look like an artist’s paint palette.  I’m going to try and carry the colorful theme into the kitchen tonight as I attempt to make my first rhubarb dessert. That ruby red color of their stalks is so pretty but I’ve never so much as tasted a rhubarb much less cooked with one. Anyone have a to-die-for rhubarb recipe?

I love a rhubarb & strawberry pie from Ikeda’s on the drive up to Lake Tahoe.
I just saw this on smitten kitchen: http://smittenkitchen.com/2008/02/big-crumb-coffee-cake/

  2. The more color the happier we are! Good luck with the decorator!

Wow, the colors of those flowers are just amazing….Spring is just around the corner and although I do love Fall and the holiday season I guess Spring is always a joy….a reminder that life goes on no matter what..things will grow and bloom and the sun will shine. Irregardless of what yesterday was like, Spring “tomorrows” always seem to be promising.

You definitely have me quite interested in the rhubarb. Maybe a post about the finished product? :-)
