I enjoy a good hamburger. Gourmet burger shops are pretty popular these days and one could even say LA is a hamburger town – let NYC have its pizza and bagels, Chicago its deep dish and hotdogs. It all started with In-N-Out, double doubles and secret sauce and keeps growing from there.
On a recent trip to Oakland, our friends took us to a new burger joint, True Burger, not far from picturesque Lake Merritt. We ordered burgers, cheeseburgers, fries & milkshakes to get the full experience:
All were delicious. The burger is a good size, I preferred the one with cheese and the milkshake was on point (note: the awesome mural of downtown Oakland in the background). Veggies take note of the ‘Shroom Burger - Crispy portobello mushroom stuffed with smoked mozzarella cheese, yum. The chefs goal was to open a place where guests can get the food they crave with quality and value in mind, and I think they succeeded.

Been there, done that, over and over! We make the 15-mile drive from home once a month because our family loves it so. A delicious awesome lunch any way it’s ordered. Fries are pefect on their own and even more luscious with the in-house chili & homemade cheese sauce on top. And the staff are super friendly. A great place to take the family when visiting the Lake Merritt area.
