Welcome to Paisley Petunia…part two!
I find inspiration in pretty pictures, endless possibilities in a bowl of Meyer lemons, the meaning of lifetime devotion in the wagging tails of our 3 rescue dogs, end-of- the-day bliss in a glass of red wine and now, the boundless, soul clutching meaning of life in the faces of my 2 little angels.
It's a happy, creative, joy-full life we've got here in the LA sun. Come play! Bring wine.

Burger Showdown!
Meet the competitors:
{six teams entered. name & description of each burger is on the bottom right}
Feast your eyes on the entries:
Maybe you remember our 1st annual Big Cheese Invitational? We have finally recovered from the mac ‘n cheese battle and our competitive culinary-inclined friends decided that next we would take on the all American staple – the hamburger. Simply stated a piece of protein between two pieces of bread. $5 entry fee, 6 burgers, 16 judges, winner takes all!
I hosted the event in my backyard and sadly the sun disappeared just as guests began to arrive. However, nothing would shake the determination and sheer competitiveness of this group of grill masters. Numbers were drawn to determine cooking order. The winner had the fortunate pick of going first (now that we look back on it, everyone was the most hungry at this point!) 4 hours and 6 burgers later, votes were tallied and our winner was announced:
Landon & Christa’s Buffalo Pizza Burger:
buffalo meat – pizza sauce – mozzarella cheese – garlic toast bun
Other entries included: a blue cheese/carmelized onion/bacon burger, a hickory/bacon/mushroom/challah burger, a coffee rub/bacon/gouda/tomato slider, a korean short rib/kimchi slider and a jalapeno/portabello mushroom/onion/cilantro/peppejack/secret sauce burger. And each of us had a 1/4 or 1/2 taste of each of the six. Needless to say we were full beyond belief. It was a fantastic night and made me realize how much I love my friends – their creativity and competitiveness keep me on my toes (and my belly full). Now what food category or item should we tackle next: chili cookoff? pie or chocolate chip bakeoff? perhaps a cocktail mixology challenge?

I wasn’t invited????? Normally I’d be insulted, but instead I’ll just take this as a biting commentary on the severe negligence of our beloved burger blog.
I need a burger stat! That’s a great idea.
